    About BABET-REAL5

The main aim of BABET-REAL5 is to develop an alternative solution for the production of second generation ethanol based on smaller industrial scale than the already realised plants of first generation ethanol. The project has the following specific objectives:

    1. Achieve favourable techno-economic and environmental performances for the production of second generation ethanol in small-scale industrial plants.
    2. Identify feedstock with sustainable and reliable supply conditions for the evaluation and selection of business cases leading to demonstration/flagship plants after the project.
    3. Preparation of all the necessary data for the selected business cases so that the new technology can be realistically evaluated and scaled-up at the end of the project to TRL 6-7 (Technical Readiness Level, a measuring scale describing the level of maturity of a topic, TRL 6 means: technology demonstrated in relevant environment (industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies); TRL 7: system prototype demonstration in operational environment).

The achievement of the objectives 2 and 3 will be supported by the involvement of stakeholders through consultations and dedicated workshops.

BABET-REAL5 is supported by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Commission (Contract No. 654365). The BABET-REAL5 consortium includes eleven European and four Latin American partners and is coordinated by the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT), France. The project runs from February 2016 to January 2020.
