Four potential business cases for the production of ethanol with the new processes and business model of small-scale industrial plants (2 in Europe and 2 in Latin America) will be selected. It will be demonstrated that the new processes and business model are viable with different lignocellulosic feedstock and deployable at large scale under different local exploitation conditions.
The evaluation of the potentiality of the business cases will be performed with regards to four major criteria:
- Techno-economic and environmental performances.
- Socio-economic benefits at rural and local levels.
- Preliminary business plan.
- Risks analysis.
The four selected business cases will offer good perspectives for the prompt implementation of demonstration units after the project in Europe and Latin America, and will have drawn the interest of the potential users and stakeholders.
